About Sessions

I suffer from chronic symptoms, is this approach for me?

If you answer "yes" to most of the following questions, it is very likely that you will benefit from the mind-body approach:

♡ Do you suffer from chronic pain or symptoms for more than 6 months? Have you been medically diagnosed with at least 1 condition described as only "manageable" and not curable, known to be psychosomatic and stress-related in nature*, or do you experience any chronic unexplained symptoms that disrupt your well-being despite consulting many healthcare professionals and trying various therapies?

♡ Are your diagnostic tests normal, or could they have incidental findings that do not really explain your symptoms?

♡ Do your symptoms come and go, or move around depending on the time of the day, days of the week, or seasons?

♡ Do your symptoms fluctuate based on the foods you eat, activities you engage in, specific places you're in, or your emotional state when you are positively (e.g., during vacation, happy events) or negatively (e.g., during stressful or emergency situations) distracted?

♡ Did you experience difficult or stressful situations while growing up, leading to a build-up of emotions that you did not process in a healthy way?

♡ Did you experience a difficult or stressful situation, or a major life event (even one socially labeled as a happy event), prior to the onset of symptoms?

♡ Do you identify with one or more of the following personality traits: perfectionist, people pleaser, sensitive, do-gooder, high sense of responsibility towards others, overthinker, catastrophizing (worst-case scenario thinker), harsh inner critic, overly positive, stoic?

♡ Do you currently have many stressors to deal with in your daily life that you do not attend to appropriately (meaning, you don’t engage in healthy emotional processing, maintain a healthy mindset, practice proper self-care, or participate in activities for the sole purpose of having fun and feeling joy)?

♡ Are you constantly frustrated and fearful about your symptoms? Have you developed a new identity around them and believe that they have taken over your life (e.g., avoiding activities you used to enjoy, constantly thinking about your symptoms, finding them interfering with different areas of your life)?

*Examples include but are not limited to: fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, eczema, psoriasis, migraines, tension headaches, bruxism, muscle pain (back, neck, etc.), sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, insomnia, tinnitus....

What if I don't suffer from chronic symptoms?

Given the nature of the mind-body approach, sessions can still be beneficial, even if you don't suffer from chronic pain or symptoms, and can work as a preventative measure to developing symptoms. So why not take proactive steps to align with your true self, address your deepest needs and desires, and healthily manage emotions before facing the unwanted consequences of not doing so? I highly encourage you to try this approach, regardless of whether or not you experience chronic symptoms, especially if you answer "yes" to most of the following questions:

♡ Are there areas of your life where you feel you're not living up to your full potential due to fears and/or limiting beliefs?

♡ Do you tend to put others first, struggle with setting boundaries, and neglect your own needs and desires?

♡ Do you feel overwhelmed by responsibilities and neglect self-care and playful activities that bring you joy and relaxation?

♡ Do you identify with one or more of the following personality traits: perfectionist, people pleaser, sensitive, do-gooder, high sense of responsibility towards others, overthinker, catastrophizing thinker, harsh inner critic, overly positive, or stoic?

♡ Are you currently dealing with numerous stressors in your daily life that you don't manage effectively (e.g., unhealthy emotional processing, unhealthy mindset, inadequate self-care, lack of playtime)?

♡ Did you experience difficult or stressful situations during your childhood that built up emotions and were not processed in a healthy manner?

Who can't I help?

Unfortunately, if you strongly identify with the points below, this approach may not be suitable for you. In that case, working together would likely be a waste of time and effort for both of us. Therefore, kindly ensure we are a good fit before requesting a chat:

♡ You are not willing to try a mind-body approach for treating your symptoms and think psychologically instead of structurally; meaning to understand and accept the role of the brain and emotions in your condition (knowing that this does NOT imply that symptoms are not real; in fact, psychosomatic symptoms are so very well felt and can be the most debilitating and difficult to deal with)

♡ You are not open to trying this approach wholeheartedly and to challenging your existing thoughts and knowledge about your symptoms

♡ You are determined to find a structural (non-psychological) cause to explain your symptoms and are looking for a fast, effort-free solution and passive approach for your symptoms

♡ You are not willing to take responsibility for results since this approach cannot be considered as a "magic cure"; and results vary depending on how long the brain needs to feel safe and create new neural pathways around symptoms, which cannot be predicted nor guaranteed. Each individual is unique and will move at his/her own pace, which will also affect results

Why work with me?

♡ Former chronic pain sufferer - I haven't only learned how to recover from symptoms through my certifications, research and experience; I've also gained insights through my own personal struggles. Having made all the possible mistakes that hindered my recovery, I believe this allows me to deeply relate to and successfully help anyone suffering from chronic symptoms.

♡ Personalized approach based on rational explanations - I believe that the best way for people to heal is to implement tools that are specific to their case but in their own way. This is why I adopt an adaptable and personalized approach, which significantly reduces frustration. Moreover, my approach contains a lot of education based on logical explanations, despite the lack of medical intervention. As a scientific person, I find it easy to convey information in a rational way which can reach many who, like me, need to fully understand how the approach works, move with purpose and take steps with conviction, which can be crucial to recovery.

♡ Working towards independence - Success of the approach relies on helping people feel more confident and capable to deal with anything (e.g., emotions, situations and/or symptoms) and on making their own decisions along the lines of the approach. While accountability, education, guidance and support from my side are definitely needed in the beginning, you will find yourself ready to go on your own after a few sessions.

♡ Resourceful, problem-solver - As a child, I used to believe I could achieve anything, even if that was not very realistic, for the only reason that I would be happy with any outcome as long as it came out of trying. However, as I grew older, I became overly cautious and limited by fears and beliefs, hesitant to dream or take risks. Through self-reflection and personal growth, I've struck a healthy balance between both and can now describe myself as a pragmatic problem solver. My passion and journey with helping diverse people achieve their goals facilitates me to think of and find solutions easily. I am a big believer that we can always find a way to achieve what we want and need; that the world is our oyster, especially when we get rid of our limiting beliefs. However, this is only realistic when we understand that we do not need much (at least not more than we already have), to feel good and happy.

♡ Patient, positive, motivating, realistic, understanding, accepting and non-judgmental - During my journey, I noticed how important it is to have someone with such qualities supporting you while you are working on yourself, to eliminate chronic symptoms or not! My aim is to create a safe space where you can be yourself, move at your own pace and never give up until you get where you want to be :)

How many sessions would I need?

For me to answer this question correctly, let's break down the objectives into two:

♡ The number of sessions needed to recover

♡ The second one being the number of sessions to get equipped with enough knowledge and tools to understand what is going on and how to deal with it

For the first objective, the time it takes to recover is very person-specific. It could be quick, such as just by reading a book, or take longer depending on the individual's situation. It depends on the ability to think and behave differently to eventually create new neural pathways around symptoms and help the brain feel safe enough to stop creating symptoms.

What's more important is the second objective. To avoid overwhelming, it would take at least 4 sessions to gain a clear understanding and know-how of the mind-body approach. Once the concept is clear, additional sessions can focus more on providing ongoing support, accountability, and overcoming obstacles. However, they are not necessary if you feel well-equipped enough to continue with the approach independently.
